After we selected the camper it was time to find one! We were fortunate, we made the decision just before the camper shortage starting occurring. In fact, we bought the last “New” 21QB we could find. The dealership was General RV located in Wixom, MI – about an 8 hour drive for us.
We bought the camper sight unseen.
Now we did do a walkthrough prior to signing all of the paperwork, but as we previously noted in our camper selection post – we knew we wanted to camp in a Class C and this was literally the only one that met all of our needs. Unless it was an obvious lemon, we were going to purchase it.
While we had hoped to work with Matt, who at the time worked with General RV, that didn’t end up happening. There have been some frustrations with the dealership. We had warranty parts that we had to constantly stay on top of them to receive. We had extra parts we ordered and paid for, but for some reason, they never ordered them to get to us.
To be honest, if we weren’t so set on the model, we probably wouldn’t have chosen to go with them after all the negative reviews. However, we went in with eyes wide open, paid attention to our paperwork, and knew we were on our own if anything happened. We weren’t making the drive back to have things fixed.
Miss Sofie made that trek with us and had everyone at the dealership charmed. Yes, it was pet friendly. Lots of dogs in and out as people got their accessories, signed their paperwork or bought their new homes on wheels.
Our first night in the camper was at a State campground on the northern border of Indiana. It was so wonderful to not be messing with the pop-outs. On the way home, we stopped at the sand dunes for a quick walk, but we definitely want to go back to enjoy it longer!
